• Make sure the guests are aware of rules of the facility.
• Maintain the high level of customer satisfaction.
• Follow departmental policies and procedures
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies
• Ensure that the life saving equipment is in place and in working condition.
• Ensure that water treatment is done on a regular basis.
• Report guest comments to the supervisor
• Maintain current First Aid and CPR
• supervise children’s swimming activities.
• maintain a watchful eye on guest safety
• Comply with occupational health and safety legislation.
• Be familiar with property safety, first aid.
• Be familiar with fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly

Qualifications:

Lifeguard requirements may be different on an organizational basis, but most of the company requires the following qualification..

• Previous experience as a Lifeguard
• Certification in CPR First Aid required
• Certification as a Lifeguard required
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
• Highly responsible & reliable
• Ability to work in the team
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs,
• remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Effective communication.

• Frequent standing and walking throughout shift
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs..
• Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, sitting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps

The American Lifeguard Association is available to work with employers who request assistance in helping with the program’s evaluation to meet these new standards.

The American Lifeguard Association (ALA) has the support of Global Lifeguards and the Swimming Pool and Spa Foundation, which are 501(c)(3) nonprofit associations that oversee beaches and swimming pools. ALA works directly with employers nationwide to help train lifeguard professionals. The primary purpose of ALA is to reduce drownings and to help keep our swimming pools, beaches, and waterways safer.
