Founded by Angela Sellers, Fit Columbia is a hidden gem among the many venues in Five Points. Creating an environment for play and longevity, the studio offers classes for all ages.
The studio’s ethos is COVID-19 conscious. In addition to yoga classes, it also offers stretch therapy and personal training.
Blink Fitness
Blink Fitness is a popular gym chain with locations across the country. Its philosophy is “Mood Above Muscle,” which celebrates the positive feelings exercise can bring to people.
The gyms have a lot of cardio machines and some resistance and free weights equipment. They also have a functional training area in the back, which is a great place to do bodyweight workouts.
It’s a good choice for those who want to focus on cardio workouts, although you can also do more intense workouts here. The machines are all fairly well-maintained and the staff is friendly.
If you’re looking for a good place to work out but don’t want to pay high fees, consider joining a FlexIt membership. With a low monthly fee, you can use any of the FlexIt members’ gyms whenever you want.

Sunnyside Pilates
First opened in March of this year on Sunnyside Drive, local Pilates aficionado Karis Loewen’s gym features the newest in fitness technology, including the megaformer workout machine which merges the nurturing approach of classical Pilates with a more rigorous and less likely to injury approach of body building. Aside from the megaformer, Loewen’s studio offers a number of other fitness and class offerings including Yoga, Zumba, Bootcamp and more.
Among the most impressive aforementioned features of the facility are the state-of-the-art HUR Senso which facilitates interactive motor training activities and gaming that improve balance, agility and cognition. Aside from the HUR Senso, a variety of other state-of-the-art equipment is in use as well including the 20′ x 56′ pool which hosts a number of lap swimming and aqua aerobics classes.
Title Boxing Club
If you’re looking for a fitness-focused boxing club, Title is an excellent option. Its workouts are intense and physical, but the atmosphere is friendly and encouraging.
Classes are led by trainers, who offer different motivational styles and techniques. They also provide video tutorials for boxing technique and shadow boxing – a form of training that involves pretending you’re sparring an opponent.
Classes last 60 minutes each and are instructor-led, so if you’re new to fitness, it’s best to go in with someone who can guide you. It’s also important to let your trainer know if you have any injuries so they can modify movements or suggest you sign up for private training.
